Abstract

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) carried out a public consultation to receive input from the scientific community and all interested parties on the draft Guidance on the use of the Benchmark Dose approach in risk assessment. The draft Guidance was developed by the Scientific Committee's Working Group on Benchmark Dose and endorsed by the Scientific Committee for public consultation on 9 February 2022, during its 107th plenary meeting. The public consultation for this document was open from 21 February to 11 April 2022. According to the Terms of Reference received, a targeted consultation was also organised in parallel to associate the other EFSA Partners (European Member States Competent Authorities, EFSA Sister Agencies, other international Partners) to this activity. During this period, EFSA received contributions from 22 interested parties belonging to different sectors (e.g. NGOs, consultancy companies, industries, national authorities, and individual scientists). EFSA and its Scientific Committee wish to thank all the stakeholders for their contributions. This Technical Report presents the comments received and addressed after consideration by the Scientific Committee's Working Group on Benchmark Dose and discussion at the 110th Scientific Committee plenary meeting on 21 September 2022.
